The true origin of vampires is unknown, even to this day the only thing that is for certain they have been alongside humans and werewolves since the beginning. Vampires are like a disease in that those who are turned will receive the same abilities as their Sire. They will have similar strength, a little weaker than the original host, as well as speed.

Vampire types are based off their house, as each house has specific abilities, reputation, power, and significance. Typically the true founder of the houses are either dead, been in slumber for centuries, or have gone missing. They typically have left one or two leaders in their stead, or for some houses have fought for leadership.

Houses travel together and rarely are they in multiple locations. There are some houses where they allow individuals freedom to explore, but typically for a price; fame, reputation, money, etc. Most Houses keep a tight leash on their members so as to avoid conflicts and confrontation from other houses, other species, or even The Council.

To become a vampire one must be completely drained of blood and then slowly be given their makers blood. The new vampire is called a fledgling and will take a month to fully heal and become accustomed to their body. After a year the fledgling should have complete control over their thirst.

Vampires can drink any type of blood, however, depending on the blood type depends on how fast they can regenerate. Human blood will regenerate them fastest, but it acts like cocaine and highly addictive. Those found to be drinking human blood is punished and typically will be chained away for a year or longer without blood. Vampires will drink predator blood, second best at regeneration, but not addictive, only downside tastes like dirt. They are able to drink prey blood, but does next to nothing for them, has a sweeter taste. Werewolf blood can heal them but makes them sick afterwards.

Vampires weakness is silver, iron, salt, removal of their heart, decapitation, and direct sunlight. Through their transformation they are extremely sensitive to light and will become blistered and burned. Sometimes loosing their limb entirely if they do not receive blood fast enough. There are rumors of a Vampire house known to be able to walk in the sun.
